### What Does UL Certification Mean?

Underwriters Laboratories® (UL) has been the leading US product safety testing and certification organization since 1894.  UL is an independent and not-for-profit organization assuring business and residential customers that company products meet the highest safety and operational standards. UL is one of the oldest testing agencies in the country and provides certification on the safety of products as well as their environmental claims.

If a product is UL Listed, it means that UL has tested representative samples of the product and determined that it meets UL’s stringent requirements. These requirements are based primarily on UL’s published and nationally recognized Standards for Safety.

### Why Is UL Certification Important?

Here are some of the reasons why UL Certification is so important to look for when you are making electronics purchase:

Strict Safety Standards: UL sets stringent engineering safety standards that must be complied with in order for a product to obtain a UL Listing.

Detailed and Ongoing Verification Process: A local UL field representative visits a manufacturer at least four times per year, on an unscheduled basis, to verify that the Listing Mark is only applied to products that are being built in accordance with the UL requirements.

Commitment to Quality: Manufacturers that are UL listed demonstrate their continued commitment to safety and quality.

### UL Approved & Listed for over 45 years: Better Pack 555ES Water-Activated Tape Dispenser

Within the Better Packages product lineup, the Better Pack 555 electric dispenser first received UL certification and was authorized to use the UL mark in 1959, when the dispenser was introduced.  To obtain the UL Mark initially, the product was subjected to UL rigorous testing inspection by UL engineers to ensure the dispenser met all UL safety requirements.

To retain UL certification, the Better Pack 555 has “Follow-Up Services Inspections”, or FUS Inspections by a UL field representative at least four times per year. As part of this process, the UL field representative generates an Inspection Report, which fully documents the FUS Inspection and each product tested.

### Safety Features of the Better Pack 555ES Paper Tape Machine:

Better Packages equipment is engineered and built to meet or exceed UL, CE (European Economic Area), CSA (North America), CUL (Canada), and regulatory requirements. Here are some of the BP555eS’ safety features:

- Thermal cutoff prevents the motor from overheating after extensive use
- Safety interlock switch disable the cutting blade when the front cover is open
- The material choices that include flame retardant plastic, steel side frames and      zinc-plated stainless steel parts
- Extra-long (detachable) electrical cord for improved operator ease, comfort and safety.
